Empowering individuals with disabilities through the sport of golf.
"To make the game of golf accessible to all — empowering individuals with physical, cognitive, and neurological disabilities across North Carolina through free adaptive clinics, world-class instruction, and a welcoming community that believes every person deserves to experience the joy of the game."
North Carolina Adaptive Golf is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging people with varying disabilities and empowering them to build a community rooted in strength, support, resources, mentorship, friendship, and confidence — so that each individual can step forward and integrate into society as a whole, fully and unapologetically. We believe that access to sport is a right, not a privilege, and that adaptive golf is a uniquely powerful vehicle for personal growth and community connection.
"A North Carolina where every person, regardless of ability, has equal access to the fairways — where adaptive golf is not the exception, but the expectation, and where the sport serves as a powerful vehicle for healing, confidence, and community."
"Adaptive by Design. Inclusive by Heart."
We run monthly adaptive golf clinics across North Carolina, open to participants with physical, cognitive, and neurological disabilities — completely free of charge. Our clinics provide access to specialized adaptive equipment including single-arm clubs, wheelchair-accessible golf carts, and other assistive gear. We match participants with experienced volunteer instructors and peer mentors who share their journey. Beyond the course, we offer scholarship assistance, travel support, and a growing network of individuals who support one another in every aspect of life. Every clinic is a safe, welcoming space where ability is celebrated and every swing counts.
Our programs are designed for adults and youth living with limb differences, spinal cord injuries, visual impairments, traumatic brain injuries, neurological conditions, and cognitive or developmental disabilities. No prior golf experience is required — only the desire to participate. We also welcome family members, caregivers, volunteers, and corporate sponsors who want to be part of a mission that genuinely transforms lives. Whether you are a first-time golfer or a seasoned player looking to reconnect with the sport after an injury, NC Adaptive Golf has a place for you.
NC Adaptive Golf was co-founded by Alex Fourie and Tony Garcia-McMillian, two passionate advocates who saw firsthand the transformative power of adaptive sports. Together, they built an organization that combines athletic programming with community development and personal empowerment. Our team of volunteers, instructors, and community partners spans the state of North Carolina, united by a shared belief that sport has no boundaries. We are golfers, advocates, caregivers, veterans, and neighbors — and we are proud to be growing every day.
